Pricing questions
What is the difference between Dynamic and Dedicated?
Dynamic gives you a managed backup datastore: we send the connection details (hostname, fingerprint, datastore, username) that you paste into Proxmox VE, and we operate the PBS server behind it — you do not get PBS WebUI or shell access. Dedicated gives you your own Proxmox Backup Server instance with full access to the PBS web interface and a user account with sudo permissions.
How does Dynamic billing work when I go over 1TB?
The $6.95/month base includes your first 1TB of stored backup data. Usage beyond 1TB is billed per GB at the same effective rate of $6.95 per TB (about $0.0068 per GB). For example, storing 2.3TB costs $6.95 base plus roughly $9.04 in overage, about $15.99 for the month. There is nothing to upgrade — your storage simply grows with your backups.
Are there bandwidth or transfer limits?
There are no overage charges for transfer on any plan. Dedicated plans include monthly transfer equal to their storage tier — a 50TB plan includes 50TB of transfer per month — except your first month, which is unmetered so you can push your full dataset to seed the server. On Dynamic, transfer is included as part of the managed service.
Do Dedicated plans include PBS WebUI and root access?
Yes. Every Dedicated plan — Instance or Server — includes full access to the Proxmox Backup Server web interface and a user account with sudo permissions. You can manage datastores, sync jobs, verification, pruning, encryption keys, and users yourself, or ask us to handle it.
What is the difference between a Dedicated Instance and the Dedicated Server?
A Dedicated Instance is your own PBS with reserved storage capacity and dedicated resources, available from 10TB to 75TB. The Dedicated Server (100TB) is a physical machine that is entirely yours — dedicated hardware with no other tenants of any kind, at the lowest per-TB rate of $4.95.
Can I switch between plans later?
Yes. A common path is starting on Dynamic and moving to a Dedicated Instance once you want WebUI access or your usage justifies reserved capacity. We migrate the backup data for you; contact us to schedule it.
Is there a setup fee or long-term contract?
No setup fee. Plans bill monthly. Dynamic requires a 1TB minimum commitment ($6.95/month); Dedicated plans reserve the full capacity of the tier you choose.
